About Presbyterian Churches
Tradition
Presbyterian churches follow the Reformed theological tradition rooted in the teachings of John Calvin. They emphasize God's sovereignty, the authority of scripture, and education.
What to Expect in Worship
Services are orderly and centered on the Word of God, with scripture readings, hymns, a substantive sermon, and prayer. Communion is observed regularly.
Church Governance
Presbyterian governance is led by elected elders (presbyters) who form a session. Multiple congregations form a presbytery, and presbyteries form synods and a general assembly.
