About Ukrainian Orthodox Churches

Tradition

Orthodox Christianity is one of the oldest branches of Christianity, with roots in the early church of the first millennium. It preserves ancient liturgical traditions, iconography, and theological teachings.

What to Expect in Worship

Services are deeply liturgical, featuring chanting, incense, icons, and the Divine Liturgy centered on the Eucharist. Worshippers stand for much of the service in many traditions.

Church Governance

The Orthodox Church is organized into autocephalous (self-governing) churches led by patriarchs, archbishops, or metropolitans. Local parishes are led by priests.
